This garden in Eltham was in poor condition — uneven, overgrown, and lacking any real structure or usable space. The project transformed it from scratch into a clean, well-proportioned outdoor space with defined areas, quality materials, and landscaping that will last.

Groundworks & Levelling

The entire garden area was excavated and levelled — the most important and most underestimated stage of any landscaping project. An uneven base creates problems at every subsequent stage and is expensive to correct once paving and planting are in place. New topsoil was brought in and graded across the full area, creating a consistent, well-drained base for everything above it.

Sandstone Paving

Sandstone slabs were laid to create the patio and hard landscaping areas. Sandstone is a natural material that weathers attractively and gives a warm, earthy character to the space — well suited to the proportions of this garden and the surrounding property. The slabs were bedded correctly on a mortar bed with proper falls for drainage, with pointed joints to complete the finish.

Brick Planter Walls & Lawn

Brick planter walls were built around the perimeter of the garden, creating a defined boundary and raised planting beds that give the garden structure and a sense of intention. The brickwork was pointed to match the style of the existing property. New lawn turf was laid across the remaining area — rolled, firmed, and properly prepared to establish evenly. The result is a garden with clear definition between hard and soft landscaping, built on foundations that will perform for years.
